FAVORITEN Festival 2018
Every two years, Favoriten shows current theater, dance and performance works from North Rhine–Westphalia’s independent scene. In the process, the Dortmund festival re-invents itself every time: finds new venues in the city, builds new relationships and places other accents.
A public debate about cultural models, clear missions and categories surrounds us. But how can one develop a festival program or artistic work ‘without a model’ – against given definitions andrepressive attributions?
The 18 positions in the program resist established expectations! In aesthetic experiments, they conquer new genres and political spheres of action. We offer you a heartfelt invitation to eleven festival days!

Work at Werk Union
Four artist groups will work from June to September 2018 based on overheard stories and possible futures for the abandoned Werk Union grounds (formerly HSP / Hoesch) in Dortmund’s Union quarter. Working Class Daughters will be about the female workers’ voices; Terra incognita collects hopes that have been lost or can be newly found; the artists David Guy Kono and Antoine Effroy recommend rejecting the biblical command ‘subdue the earth’; and Transzendenter Supranaturalismus will let pink clouds rise.

Presale directly online (no fees), nationwide at all known ticket agencies and from 8 am – 8 pm at the ticket hotline +49 (0) 1806-570070 (0.20 € . xed networks / max. 0,60 € mobile networks).
Tickets for all events: 15 EUR regular, 8 EUR reduced. The exhibition at Künstlerhaus as well as all events in the frame of WITHIN by Tarek Atoui are free of charge. Free choice of seats at all events.
Reductions for pupils, trainees and students. Free admission for recipients of social welfare and holders of Dortmund-Pass at the box office depending on availability.
Festival Pass: 6 tickets can be combined, either for one person going to 6 events or several visitors going to one or several events. The Festival Pass works as a ticket and needs to be taken to every event. The shows ingolf wohnt, VANITAS and Voicing Pieces are excluded from the pass.
